St. Possidius, bishop of Calama, was a friend of St. Augustine for 40 years, and wrote a short life of Augustine. Dates of birth and death are uncertain. Possidius was consecrated as bishop in 397, and published his life of Augustine in about 438.

Very brief note on St. Possidius suggests 450 as the year of the saint's death.
