St. Bernard of Menthon, Archdeacon of Aosta, preacher, founder of two hospices for travelers in dangerous Alpine passes (now named the Great St. Bernard and Little St. Bernard, after him), d. 1008.

Biography of St. Bernard of Montjoux says that he should not be called Bernard of Menthon, and estimates that he died around 1081.
