Since its founding in 1932, the JLC has contributed nearly $1,000,000 and tens and thousands of volunteer hours to the Charlottesville and Albemarle County community.

JLNVB will donate $45,000 towards the creation of children's activities at the Haven Family Center. In September 1996, the Junior League dedicated the new education center at Virginia Zoological Park in Norfolk. Each spring, JLNVB offers community response grants totalling $5,000 to $10,000. The Career Clothes Closet provides interview clothing to women ending their reliance on government assistance.

Volunteers work to improve the lives and welfare of area homeless children, the fastest growing segment of Virginia?s homeless population. A wide variety of volunteer opportunities are available in direct service and fund raising.

The organization focuses its community service to benefit Families-at-Risk in Richmond, Virginia through parenting support initiatives. Believing that there will never be a greater influence on a child than a parent, the League works to develop and enhance parenting skills.
