The purpose of HTLA shall be the advancement of the cause of those who are damaged in person and property and who seek redress at law; to resist efforts to curtail the rights of such persons; to encourage cooperation among lawyers engaged in the furtherance of such objectives; and through such cooperation to promote justice and human welfare.

The purpose of SATLA is to promote fair resolutions of civil disputes and to protect individuals' rights to have their grievances aired to a fair and impartial court and/or jury of their peers.
