A diversified trade union Represents 400,000 workers in two sections Operating Engineers, who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors in the construction industry, and Stationary Engineers, who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes, and in the service industries. Operating Engineers Local 234
Representing both stationary and hoisting and portable members in Iowa. Local 234 has a diverse Stationary membership. It includes school, city, county, utilities, maintenance, building engineers, and manufacturing employees.
