Owns 400 acres of land adjacent to the Douglas State Forest. Its members share a common enjoyment of the outdoors including hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and all outdoor activities.

ARES consists of licensed amateur radio operators who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.
