Collects audiovisual material, documentation and material relating to amateurfilms. It conserves films, organises lectures and screenings.

As a national center for cinematography the museum aims to promote a lively Dutch film culture, by the collection, restoration and screening of film treasures. Also presents new films, both Dutch and foreign art films.
