The University of Zagreb Medical School is a public institution of higher education within the University of Zagreb, which is responsible for the organization and performance of university studies, research and continuing education in the area of biomedicine and health. The Zagreb Medical School is an independent legal entity founded by the University of Zagreb. The Zagreb Medical School carries out its activities in academic teaching and research through its affiliates and organizational units.

The University of Zagreb is the oldest Croatian university and also the oldest university in South East Europe. Its basic task is to teach students how to produce, transfer and apply knowledge and skills in a highly competitive surroundings. Therefore, the University of Zagreb does everything possible to enable students to learn freely and to conduct scientific and artistic research in a tolerant and democratic environment.
