The Center is an interdisciplinary studio environment available to students in all departments for courses, workshops, and supervised independent projects. Activities supported in the studios include electronic design and prepress, computer drawing and imaging, digital video and audio, interactive multimedia, 3D modeling and rendering, animation, electronic device control, and World Wide Web authoring.

A public, free-standing college of art and design. The college's professional baccalaureate and graduate degree programs enable students to contribute to the New England economy as fine artists, designers, and art educators, and to engage creatively in the well being of their society.

The library is a treasure house of verbal and visual information focusing on art, design, media, education, and general liberal arts. Its collections include more than 90,000 volumes, 700 films, 2000 videotapes, 100,000 slides, 500 periodical titles, sound recordings, posters, the college's archives, a rare book collection, and the Gunn Associates pictorial reference file: 90,000 images collected from periodicals between 1939 and 1965.

The department's police officers are academy trained and sworn special state police officers. Security officers maintain building access and are trained in CPR and first aid. Many officers are Emergency Medical Technicians or First Responders, which provides the community with emergency medical response.
