East Asian Languages & Cultures
The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures offers instruction in elementary to advanced levels of Chinese and Japanese, elementary levels of Korean, and aspects of the cultures of all three nations. The faculty consists of scholars of language, literature, and thought, supported by a library of more than 165,000 volumes in Japanese and Chinese, a museum with rare collections of Asian art, and associated faculty members in disciplines such as anthropology, art history, business, geography, history, religion, and theatre.

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Geology
The Department has close ties with a number of research units that are a part of The University, including the Kansas Geological Survey, the Paleontological Institute, the Natural History Museum, the Water Resources Center, the Energy Research Center, the Tertiary Oil Recovery Project, and the Center for Research, Inc. In addition, some students and faculty members work closely with the Water Resources Division of the U. S. Geological Survey, a branch of which is located in Lawrence, Kansas.
