The Critical Languages Program at The University of Arizona was created in order to meet the need for instruction in less commonly taught languages (LCTLs). These languages are offered through CLP on a self-sustaining basis.
Department of Classics and Classical Archaeology
Classics, as an academic field, studies the cultures, history, languages, literatures and material remains of the ancient Mediterranean world from approximately 2500 BCE to approximately 500 CE, with particular emphasis on the civilizations of Greece and Rome and their reciprocal relations with surrounding Near Eastern, African, and Western European societies.

National Association of Self-Instructional Languag
National Association of Self-Instructional Language Programs (NASILP) is North America's only professional organization specifically established for the fostering of self-managed academic programs in the less-commonly taught languages.
Second Language Acquisition and Teaching
The SLAT doctoral program is an interdisciplinary program comprised of sixteen collabrating departments. The program is designed to provide rigorous advanced training for researchers, teachers, and administrators concerned with second language acquisition and teaching.
