BS Contact VRML/X3D 6.2 is the latest release of the VRML and X3D Player previously known as Blaxxun Contact. Contact supports multi-user worlds and large scenes using dynamically loaded level-of-detail nodes. It now also supports the realtime shaders draft specification. Available for Windows.

A free VRML plugin for Netscape and Internet Explorer. Supports advanced functionality added in Amendment 1 to the VRML97 spec, such as Nurbs (curved surfaces) and GeoVRML. Available for Windows and Mac (Classic and OS X).

Mirror site for Cosmo Player, available for Windows and Mac OS classic. CosmoPlayer was last updated in 1997, and doesn't support the latest VRML features, such as Nurbs (curved surfaces) and GeoVRML. Often used for viewing older worlds.

Flux Player plays VRML, X3D and MPEG-4/BIFS. Flux is the creation of Tony Parisi, one of the original inventors of VRML. Available for Windows.

An Open Source, cross platform VRML and X3D browser, with script and EAI support. Available for Linux, MacOS X, IRIX and other Unix-style platforms.

The Octagon Free player is a freely available 3D player for both VRML and X3D. It supports the whole profile of X3D which gives users a multitude of visual effects such as multi-texturing. Available for Windows and Linux.

OpenVRML is a free cross-platform runtime for VRML available under the GNU Lesser General Public License. The basic OpenVRML distribution includes libraries you can use to add VRML support to an application, and Lookat, a simple stand-alone VRML browser. Binaries and source are available for Windows, IRIX, Linux and MacOS.

SimVRML is a system for providing a Virtual Reality system for the Macintosh. The focus of SimVRML is simulation and scientific computing based upon the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). Available for Mac OS X.
